Local News in Brief : Irvine : 2 Arrested After Chase, Charged With Car Theft
Two men from Orange were arrested after leading police on a high-speed freeway chase in a stolen car, authorities said Monday.
Police Lt. Al Muir said Javier Aguilar Garcia, 19, and Ignacio Garcia Silva, 20, were arrested in Santa Ana after their 1973 Ford Pinto station wagon stalled. The arrest was made at 11:30 p.m. Sunday after police chased the two men for eight miles, mostly on the Costa Mesa Freeway.
Muir said the car had been stolen in Yorba Linda.
Garcia and Silva were booked into County Jail on charges of grand theft auto, Muir said. Bail was set at $10,000 each.
