A 21-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with the fire that destroyed the popular Tuba Man’s Grandslam Bar, police reported.

Nader Hanna was arrested without incident at UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was being treated for severe burns on his face and hands, police said.

Although authorities couldn’t confirm it, Jim Eakle, the owner of Tuba Man’s, said that Hanna was related to his landlord, Razzoki Hanna, who operates the United Market & Liquor Store next to the bar.

The fire was set early Monday, and caused $250,000 in damage to the popular North Park bar located at 2551 University Ave. It took 31 firefighters 2 1/2 hours to extinguish the blaze. Hanna is also suspected of starting another fire at the bar on July 7 that caused $20,000 in damage, police said.

Hanna was booked at County Jail on suspicion of arson.
