Local News in Brief : Woman Struck, Kidnaped
Police on Thursday searched for a man who drove up to a woman strolling along the Venice Boardwalk early in the morning, hit her over the head with a baseball bat and tossed her into the trunk of his car.
Investigators have not determined why the man attacked the unidentified woman, described as white, in her late 20s, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 130 pounds with long, brown hair, Los Angeles Police Detective Bill Speer said.
The woman was walking barefoot down the boardwalk near Washington Boulevard in a red T-shirt and black skirt about 3 a.m. when she was abducted, Speer said.
Police are searching for the man, described as white, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 150 pounds and wearing black pants, a blue sweater and cowboy boots. Anyone with information about the man or woman is requested to call Detective Mike Erice at (213) 548-7605.
