A 37-year-old Norwalk man was killed Wednesday afternoon in Fullerton in a one-vehicle crash, and investigators said they are searching for clues to determine how the accident occurred.

Fullerton Police Officer Kevin Scanlon said Burton Ewing was driving west in the 1400 block of East Commonwealth Avenue at 3 p.m. when his 1980 Toyota pickup truck veered off the road and struck a light standard and a wooden fence.

Ewing, who suffered severe head and chest injuries, was rushed to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he was pronounced dead a few minutes later, Scanlon said.

The police officer said investigators have not determined what caused the accident because no witnesses were found at the scene. Scanlon said the truck would be “checked out” today by investigators as they attempt to establish the cause.

Anyone with information can call the traffic bureau of the Fullerton Police Department at (714) 738-5313.
