USC, UCLA Women Also Play Tonight

The USC and UCLA women’s basketball teams, both coming off wins last weekend, renew their rivalry tonight at 5:45 in a Pacific 10 Conference matchup preceding the men’s game at the Sports Arena.

The Trojans (13-5 overall, 7-2 in the Pac-10) are ranked 18th in the nation and are in third place in the Pac-10.

USC beat Oregon and Oregon State last week, and was led by sophomore forward Tammy Hammond, who came off the bench against Oregon to score 16 points in 20 minutes.

Cherie Nelson, USC’s 6-3 forward, is leading the conference in scoring (22.1 average) and rebounding (11.2 per game).

UCLA (13-8, 6-3) is fourth in the Pac-10. The Bruins are led by senior guard Dora Dome. She is averaging 19.4 points and 8.2 rebounds a game.

UCLA also swept the Oregon schools last week, coming from behind to beat Oregon and easily beating Oregon State in a game in which Dome had 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists.

USC beat UCLA in Pauley Pavilion, 67-56, earlier this season. The Trojans have won 12 of the last 14 games in the series.
