Outfielder Andy Van Slyke of the Pittsburgh Pirates has signed a one-year contract. Van Slyke, 27, batted .293 in 157 games. He had 21 home runs, 82 runs batted in, and 34 stolen bases in his first season with the Pirates. He was acquired by Pittsburgh in a four-player deal with the St. Louis Cardinals on April 1.
