Candice Bergen will star in CBS’ “Murphy Brown,” a Warner Bros. TV pilot. Bergen, as Brown, will portray a “famous and controversial on-air personality” with a get-tough style. A Warner spokeswoman said the show, to be shot in late March in front of a live audience, will be “geared around the newsroom” but also will explore other aspects of Brown’s life as well. “She’s a woman full of flaws able to see and laugh at her flaws,” the spokeswoman said. Bergen has appeared in such TV projects as “Hollywood Wives” and “Murder: By Reason of Insanity” but never in a weekly series.
