From the credit-where-credit’s-due file: Eunice Macaulay, producer of the Oscar-nominated short film “George and Rosemary,” wants the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to bend its rules a bit this year. Macaulay asked the academy this week to invite director Alison Snowden and animator David Fine to the April 11 ceremonies in her place. Macaulay said she wanted to avoid a repeat of the 1986 Oscar ceremony, when “Anna and Bella” producer Cilia Van Dijk conceded in her acceptance speech that she had done nothing on director Borge Ring’s film. While calling the situation “regrettable,” June Foray of the academy’s Short Film Branch said: “The rules of the academy stipulate that the producer of the film receives the Oscar, and we are bound by those rules.”
