Victim’s Family Offers Reward in Road Killing
The family and friends of a Sun Valley man who was fatally shot by a passing motorist on a North Hollywood street last week have offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer.
Kurt Runge, 23, was shot several times in the upper chest shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday on Burbank Boulevard in North Hollywood while returning home with a friend from a batting practice cage in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles police said.
Two men in a white, four-door Chevrolet Caprice or Celebrity began tailgating Runge and his friend at Laurel Canyon Boulevard, Detective Salvador Gallegos said.
The suspects’ car pulled to the side of the other car, and one of the men inside shouted something like “you’re driving too slow” before firing three shots through the partly open window, Gallegos said. The car then continued east on Burbank Boulevard.
Runge was pronounced dead more than two hours later at St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. His friend was unhurt.
