A man who was stabbed to death, then dumped in an Anaheim parking lot earlier this week has been identified as a 61-year-old transient, police said Thursday.

Police Lt. Steve Brace said the coroner’s office, using fingerprints and FBI files in Washington had identified the man as Ashley W. Morris.

“All we know is that he’s a transient,” Brace said. “We are not sure where he is from.”

Morris’ body was found last Sunday in a parking on North Grove Street on the northeast side of the city. He had been stabbed several times in the upper chest.

Brace said investigators suspect that Morris was killed at another location, then dumped in the parking lot. The victim’s body was left there along with other personal belongings, including several blankets.

Brace said there were few leads in the case, which remains under investigation.
