NBA Roundup : Jordan, Bulls Defeat 76ers
Michael Jordan, who scored 36 points, hit a driving layup with 1:13 remaining, then added four free throws as the Chicago Bulls beat Philadelphia, 97-93, Thursday night, handing the 76ers their 19th consecutive road loss.
Jordan’s late spree overcame a 16-point fourth-quarter performance by Philadelphia’s Charles Barkley, who led the 76ers with 32 points and 18 rebounds.
Portland, 135, Phoenix 112--Clyde Drexler tied his season high with 42 points, while Jerome Kersey added 28 and Kevin Duckworth 25 as the Trail Blazers beat the Suns at Phoenix to sweep the season series between the two Pacific Division teams.
The loss also was Phoenix’s fourth straight, 20th in their last 24 games.
