Search Is On for Olive Oil

Share

Pat Clancy of Fullerton is hungering for Peloponnese Agoureleo extra virgin olive oil from Greece. The item seems to have disappeared, although Chris of C & K Imports in Los Angeles says they carry other brands of the oil. Can you hold out an olive branch to Clancy, or, since the whole thing is Greek to her, will this be only another instance of oil over troubled waters?

Estelle Hurst of Woodland Hills has been looking for a long time for an aerosol hair spray that is also water-soluble. Can you help, even with a watered-down version, or will nothing make a splash big enough to trigger a response to a sticky problem obviously over Hurst’s head?

D. Richey of Monrovia, who was hankering for some Shotgun Willie chili mix, will soon have a hot time. Wilbur M. Roupe of Oceanside sent us a label and recipe for the mix, which we have forwarded to Richey (if others want it, the address is Shotgun Willie’s Place, 3913 Todd Lane, Room 401, Austin, Tex. 78744). Here are sources for other types of hot chili: Frances McNamee of San Fernando suggests Two-Alarm Chili from Wicks Fowler, Caliente Chili Inc., P.O. Drawer 5340, Austin, Tex. Mrs. J. W. Thompson of Long Beach says Abercrombie & Fitch sells a hot chili with beans that might do the job. And W. L. Smith of Torrance says Six Gun Chili Mixin’s are distributed by Far West Marketing, P.O. Box 3996, Fullerton, Calif. 92634.

Carole Levenson of South Pasadena, who wanted to buy long-lasting light bulbs from handicapped workers, can now light up the sky. Almost two dozen readers (too many to list individually) mentioned United Handicapped Workers, headquartered in Nashville, Tenn. 37206. But they have several representatives in the Los Angeles area. Some of the addresses and/or phone numbers are: 1028 Lake Ave., Pasadena, (818) 791-7678; 14640 Victory Blvd., Van Nuys, (818) 782-9934; and 2140 W. Artesia Blvd., Torrance, (213) 327-0091. In the Seattle area, the address is 329 Wells Ave. South, Renton, Wash. 98055 (from Anna Comber of Glendale).

A company named Calet 5 also hires handicapped persons and sells these bulbs, according to president W. C. Lewis; phone numbers are (818) 443-0226 (South El Monte office), and (213) 393-6132 (Santa Monica office). Lewis says phone orders will be delivered by mail or UPS.

A Pasadena reader says the Lions Club International Foundation, 300 22nd St., Oak Brook, Ill. 60570, is also involved in selling long-lasting light bulbs. (Many mail-order firms sell these bulbs, but they do not hire the handicapped and are, therefore, not listed here.)
