Toro Bats Silent Again in 2-0 Loss to Cal State L.A.
Cal State Dominguez Hills, which took a four-game winning streak and .317 team batting average into the start of conference play, failed to hit in its second game against Cal State Los Angeles and lost 2-0.
It was the second time this season the Toros have been shut out, and they wasted a good pitching performance from senior left-hander Joe Lacues, who fell to 2-2.
The Toros are 8-11 overall and 0-2 in defense of their California Collegiate Athletic Assn. title. Los Angeles has won five straight to improve to 10-13 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA. The Toros also lost their league opener to Cal State L.A., 3-2.
The Toros, who have scored only four runs in the last three games, play a non-conference contest Saturday at Cal State Long Beach at 1 p.m., then resume CCAA play Tuesday at UC Riverside.
