Joe Martin to Be Honored for Aid to Hospital

Joe Martin, president of Martin Advertising & Public Relations in Tustin, will receive the 1988 “Spirit of Life” award from the Orange County Construction Industries Alliance for the City of Hope at a black-tie dinner on Wednesday at the Irvine Hilton Hotel.
An active supporter of the medical center in Duarte, Martin “has played a vital role in marketing and merchandising Southern California real estate for 28 years,” said Alliance President William Lyon, chairman and chief executive officer of the William Lyon Co.
Dinner chairman is Anthony A. Allen, a partner in Citation Builders of Tustin and the 1987 award recipient.
Eight former honorees, including Lyon, are on the dinner committee. They include Merrill Butler, president, American Real Estate Group of Irvine; Harriet A. Harris, board chairman of Ridgewood Development Inc., Costa Mesa; Alliance chairman John D. Lusk, board chairman, Lusk Co. of Irvine.
Also, Thomas H. Nielsen, vice chairman, the Irvine Co., Irvine; Peter M. Ochs, president and chief executive officer, Fieldstone Co.; Richard B. Smith, retired chief executive officer of Broadmoor Homes, Newport Beach, and E. G. Warmington, chairman, Warmington Homes, Costa Mesa.
Lusk said the honor is the most prestigious given on behalf of the City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute. Proceeds will establish the Joe Martin Research Fellowship at the City of Hope.
