After a five-year ban, San Diego’s Jack Murphy Stadium may soon rock ‘n’ roll again, a stadium official said recently. Stadium general manager Bill Wilson said he plans to recommend to the Stadium Authority Board that rock be reintroduced, calling it a major money-maker that the city-owned stadium can’t ignore. If the board agrees with Wilson, the issue goes to the City Council for consideration. The rock ban came after a 1983 concert that prompted complaints from then-San Diego Chargers Coach Don Coryell, who said the field was the worst he had seen in several decades of coaching football.
