Mike Mitchell hit two free throws with 10 seconds remaining Wednesday night to give the San Antonio Spurs a 113-110 victory over the Clippers and extend Los Angeles’ losing streak on the road to 25 games.

The victory ended the Spurs’ losing streak at seven games while stretching the Clippers’ skid to nine in a row.

Clipper rookie swingman Reggie Williams, sidelined for 21 games earlier this season with a sprained left knee, will miss the remaining 21 games of the season with a severely sprained right knee, the club announced.

Williams was injured when he collided with Allen Leavell of the Houston Rockets in the Clippers’ 116-110 loss to the Rockets Tuesday night at Houston.

The injury won’t require surgery. However, Williams will have to wear a knee brace and undergo four to six weeks of therapy.

Williams, a former Georgetown star who was the fourth player selected in the draft last June, averaged 10.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in 35 games.

After Mitchell’s free throws, the Spurs added a basket when Kurt Nimphius scored on a dunk with two seconds remaining following Alvin Robertson’s steal.

Mitchell led San Antonio with 31 points and Robertson added 22, while Ken Norman and Mike Woodson had 26 each for the Clippers.

Clipper Coach Gene Shue said his team could have won the game if Earl Cureton had not been cornered by the Spurs.

“We had our last play diagrammed very simply in the huddle,” Shue said. “Earl got hung up with the ball and we really should have used our last timeout. I really liked what I saw tonight, but it’s just another disappointing loss.”
