Community College Roundup : Taylor Throws Another 1-Hitter for Saddleback

Patti Taylor threw a one-hitter and had nine strikeouts to lead Saddleback College to a 2-0 victory over Citrus in an Orange Empire Conference softball game Wednesday at Saddleback.

Taylor has thrown 12 one-hitters this season and 27 in two seasons. She has 210 strikeouts this season.

Marsha Garcia walked and scored on a passed ball and Debbie Hartwig tripled to drive in the other run as Saddleback (19-3, 6-0) scored twice in the third.

In other Orange Empire Conference softball games:

Cypress 2, Rancho Santiago 1--Val Sucatre’s infield single scored Sue Boxley to break a 1-1 tie in the sixth at Cypress. Noel Parker (7-4) pitched the final two innings to get the victory.

Orange Coast 7, Riverside 3--Robyn Sweeney had a two-run triple and later scored for Orange Coast during a four-run fifth inning at Riverside. Theresa White (1-0) pitched five innings for the victory.

In South Coast Conference volleyball:

Golden West 3, La Verne 1--Host Golden West (6-3, 5-3) defeated La Verne, 15-5, 15-11, 14-16, 15-7.
