Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Man Stabbed to Death; Two Friends Arrested
A 27-year-old Santa Ana man was stabbed to death in the abdomen during an argument with two friends at his apartment in the 2200 block of West Civic Center Drive early Friday, police said.
The victim, identified by police as Gabriel Arciniega, had returned to his apartment with the friends about 1:10 a.m. after an evening of drinking at a bar, police said.
As the friends drove away, they were involved in a traffic accident about a block from the victim’s apartment, police said.
Questioning by police investigating the accident led them to the victim’s apartment, where they found Arciniega’s body, police said.
Booked on homicide charges were Justino Bernal Mateo, 21, of Santa Ana and his roommate, Ruben Scarmosa Lopez, 20, police said.
The suspects are being held in County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail each, police said.
