The fifth and last suspect in the murder of Inglewood Police Detective George Aguilar surrendered Saturday to officials of the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, authorities said.

Joevone Elster, 22, of Los Angeles was booked on suspicion of murder and robbery at the Inglewood Police Department and held without bail, police said.

Two other men and a 14-year-old boy are in custody in connection with the Thursday morning shooting, which occurred during a chase that began when Aguilar came to the aid of an Inglewood service station employee who had been robbed. Another suspect shot himself to death Thursday night after he was pursued by police.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Richard L. Jenkins, who heads the unit that prosecutes crimes against police officers, said Elster’s surrender was arranged by Warren Wilson, a reporter for television station KTLA, Channel 5, and Los Angeles attorney Walter Gordon III.
