Two brothers from Los Angeles were arrested after allegedly attempting to rob a home in Newport Beach, police said Monday.

The driver of a limousine that was returning a couple to their Lido Island home Saturday night noticed that a man wearing a ski mask was in the bushes nearby and that a truck was parked down the street, police said.

As the couple walked to their house, the driver got out of the limousine and confronted the man, but noticed that he had a gun and returned to the car and called police, Lt. Tim Newman said. Nobody was injured in the confrontation.

A second suspect in the truck that had been parked a short distance away picked him up and led authorities on a high-speed chase that ended near the Arches Bridge, Newman said. One of the suspects was arrested when he got out of the car. The second suspect jumped into the bay and was arrested a short time later, Newman said.

They were identified as Louie Crawford Jr., 25, and his brother, Marcel, 23. They were booked in the city jail on suspicion of attempted robbery, Newman said. Louie Crawford also was held for parole violation and both remained in jail in lieu of $150,000 bonds.
