Plans for a new race track and automotive testing facility near Palm Springs were revealed by Indy-car team owner Frank Arciero.
The Laguna Hills resident, owner of a Southern California construction company, said the track will be called Palm Springs International Raceway and will include a 1 1/2-mile oval track, a 1 1/2-mile road course and a quarter-mile drag strip.
Arciero’s proposed facility, which he said will cost between $10 million and $13 million to build, will be situated on 380 acres of land adjacent to Interstate 10 about 5 miles from Palm Springs. The track has a tentative completion date of spring, 1990.
