A sightseeing plane carrying seven Finnish tourists made a forced landing high in the Grand Canyon but no one aboard was seriously hurt. Lew Kaplan, director of operations at Las Vegas-based Air Nevada, said: “The airplane may have some minor damage, but it was not a crash.” The Cessna 207 was en route from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon airport when the pilot reported engine failure and, an official said, “signaled Mayday” just before it landed in The Esplanade, a flat area on the canyon’s south side, Chuck Lundy of the National Park Service said. A rescue helicopter took the pilot and passengers to a clinic for examinations.
