I am writing in response to the PBS program “It Shouldn’t Hurt to Be a Kid” and the CBS movie “Silence of the Heart.” The PBS show was very moving, confronting the problems of many of today’s teens and how they are not alone in their fears and “differences.” “Silence of the Heart,” which dealt with a teen-ager’s suicide and the consequences upon his family and friends, was a problem many teens could relate to and hopefully learn a thing or two from.
