Bertolucci’s ‘1900’ Due for Release

Share

Bernardo Bertolucci’s “The Last Emperor,” which just won a slew of Oscars, won’t be available on video for several months, but another of the Italian director’s epics, “1900,” will be released on cassette June 22. Starring Robert De Niro and Burt Lancaster, this four-hour version of the 1976 film will be on two cassettes selling for $79.95.

“Fatal Attraction” may not have had “Emperor”-like success at the Academy Awards, but it will still be a hot item when it reaches video stores June 1. Fans of the hit thriller about an obsessive beauty, however, might want to make sure they have its title straight before scheduling a rental: Also being released just a few days before is “Fatal Beauty,” a Whoopi Goldberg flop from last year, and “Lethal Obsession,” a cop film starring Elliott Gould and Michael York that reached relatively few theaters last year.

“My Life as a Dog,” the acclaimed Swedish film about a boy and his dog and many other things, will be released in both subtitled and dubbed versions by Paramount Home Video--but not at the same time. The dubbed version came out today but the subtitled film won’t be released on video until May 18.
