Davila Will Fight Contreras Tonight
Bantamweight Albert Davila, who at 33 may be one bout away from yet another world championship fight, will box Gil Contreras in a 12-round North American Boxing Federation title match at the Forum tonight.
Davila, with a 55-9-1 record, has been promised a rematch with World Boxing Council champion Miguel Lora if he beats Contreras (14-3). Tonight’s bout will determine a successor to former NABF champion Frankie Duarte, who was stripped of the title last week because of inactivity.
The Forum will donate a portion of tonight’s proceeds to the Christopher Paul Aguilar Fund, established for the 11-year-old son of Inglewood policeman George Aguilar, who was killed last month while trying to apprehend robbery suspects.
