THE NFL DRAFT : MOCK DRAFT, TAKE TWO

Share
Our man, Mark Heisler, did a mock draft last Sunday, but he says that he wants another chance to get it right.

1. ATLANTA Auburn outside linebacker Aundray Bruce. 2. KANSAS CITY (from Detroit) Nebraska defensive end Neil Smith. He better be good because he’s the Chiefs’ first and second pick. They traded their No. 2 to the Lions to move up one spot and head off the Raiders, who also want Smith. 3. DETROIT Miami free safety Bennie Blades. The man the Lions wanted anyway. Green Bay Packers’ General Manager Tom Braatz says, “They just fell off the wall and got handed a 2.” 4. TAMPA BAY South Carolina wide receiver Sterling Sharpe. 5. CINCINNATI Oklahoma cornerback Rickey Dixon. 6. RAIDERS Notre Dame wide receiver Tim Brown. 7. GREEN BAY Wisconsin offensive tackle Paul Gruber. 8. NEW YORK JETS Miami wide receiver Michael Irvin. A surprise; they’d been talking offensive tackle Dave Cadigan of USC. 9. RAIDERS (from Houston) Cadigan. They have always liked Trojan horses. Or, Raiders could tell everyone they are going to take Craig (Ironhead) Heyward and hold an auction. 10. NEW YORK GIANTS Stanford running back Brad Muster. 11. DALLAS UCLA running back Gaston Green. Tom Landry says he’s the next Tony Dorsett; his old one is spent. Cowboys were squeezing for Michael Irvin but in vain. 12. PHOENIX Northwestern Louisiana State running back John Stephens. Weighs 217, runs 4.4 in the 40-yard dash. 13. PHILADELPHIA Oklahoma tight end Keith Jackson. Eagle Coach Buddy Ryan has been panting over him. 14.RAMS Pittsburgh running back Craig (Ironhead) Heyward. A b-i-g bopper to replace Eric Dickerson. 15. SAN DIEGO Michigan State running back Lorenzo White. 16. MIAMI Florida outside linebacker Clifford Charlton. 17. NEW ENGLAND Arizona State wide receiver Aaron Cox. 18. PITTSBURGH Oklahoma State running back Thurman Thomas. 19 MINNESOTA Tennessee wide receiver Anthony Miller. 20. SEATTLE No pick (used it to take Brian Bosworth in last year’s supplemental draft). 21. RAMS Louisiana State wide receiver Wendell Davis. 22. HOUSTON California outside linebacker Ken Harvey. 23. CLEVELAND Miami defensive end Danny Stubbs. 24. CHICAGO Clemson defensive tackle Michael Dean (Little Fridge) Perry. 25. NEW ORLEANS Arizona State guard Randall McDaniel. 26. SAN FRANCISCO Ohio State inside linebacker Chris Spielman. 27. DENVER Tennessee cornerback Terry McDaniel. 28. CHICAGO Arizona State cornerback Eric Allen.
