Garden Grove : Shooting Leads to Three Arrests in Earlier Killing

A shooting in Garden Grove early Sunday morning lead to the arrest of three suspects in a slaying that occurred 24 hours earlier.

Michael J. Knoski, 19, of Garden Grove was shot in the abdomen about 1:40 a.m. Sunday outside the Saigon Cabaret, a Vietnamese restaurant at 9856 Westminster Blvd. in Garden Grove.

When police arrived, they stopped a car and arrested three men in it as suspects in a murder that occurred the night before, Police Lt. Scott Hamilton said Sunday.

The suspects arrested were identified as Pinh S. Nguyen, 19, of Westminster; Bihn P. Nguyen, 19, of Garden Grove; Dihn T. Nguyen, 19, of Garden Grove.

Knoski was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital & Medical Center for a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen and was listed in serious condition Sunday night.

The murder Saturday morning occurred about 1:30 a.m. outside the Tu Hai, a Vietnamese restaurant at 14271 Brookhurst St. in Garden Grove.

The victim was identified as Khang Duy Nguyen, 24, of Westminster. Another man, Huu Thanh Phan, 24, was treated at the Fountain Valley hospital for gunshot wounds in his back. His residence was not known.

According to Lt. Hamilton, Nguyen and Phan were shot after an argument.
