Davey Johnson: The New York Mets manager needed only 666 games to register 400 victories, hitting that figure Tuesday night in Atlanta. Only Frank Chance, who did it in 581 games; Earl Weaver, 626; Billy Southworth, 632; Al Lopez, 633, and Leo Durocher, 650, got to 400 quicker.

Dave Righetti: The New York Yankees relief ace saved 3 of his team’s first 4 games but saved only 1 of the last 20.

Wade Boggs: The Boston Red Sox third baseman went 7 for 45 during a 12-game span through Wednesday, marking only the second time in his career he had hit less than .200 for 10 or more games. He was 2 for 36 at one point in 1982.

Eric Davis and Kal Daniels: The dynamic duo of the Cincinnati Reds hasn’t been very dynamic. Davis is batting .179, has 5 hits in his last 40 at-bats, had struck out 29 times in 22 games and has hit only 2 home runs and driven in 6 runs. Daniels, batting .260, had 2 hits in his last 31 at-bats and 1 home run since April 10. John Franco: The Reds’ relief ace had not allowed a run in the 13 innings of his first 8 appearances, converting all 3 save opportunities. But the Mets scored an unearned run against him Saturday to win, 6-5.

George Bell: The Toronto Blue Jays star hit 3 home runs opening day, 1 in the next 19 games and none in the last 12, all but one of which he played in left field after throwing several tantrums about being used as a designated hitter.

Pete Incaviglia: The Texas Rangers left fielder, who last year had more errors, 13, than assists, 8, has 3 assists and no errors this year. “I didn’t take that much interest in (fielding) before,” he said. “Our pitchers won’t say it, but I’m sure there were times they were thinking, ‘I hope they don’t hit it to Inky.’ ”
