One of three reactors at the San Onofre nuclear power plant was shut down for refueling over the weekend, a process expected to take 2 1/2 months, Southern California Edison Co. announced. The Unit 3 reactor refueling is expected to take until mid-July, Edison spokesman Dave Barron said. Meanwhile, the Unit 1 reactor was out of service for minor modifications, which are expected to take until the end of May, and Unit 2 was operating at 100% power, the company said. The refueling of Unit 3 will involve replacing about half of the 217 uranium fuel assemblies.
