North Torrance 15, L.A. University 3--Senior shortstop Anthony Anetema, making his first start in almost two months, hit home runs in his first two at-bats and drove in four runs to spark the host Saxons (17-8) in the ninth-place consolation finals of the Redondo/Palos Verdes Tournament.

Anetema suffered a dislocated left elbow in North’s Bay League opener on March 17 and had not played until Thursday, when he entered the Saxons’ 14-8 win over Torrance late in the game.

On Saturday, he hit a two-run homer in the first inning and belted another two-run shot in the third. He walked in his two other at-bats and scored three runs.

“He adds a little more power to our lineup,” said North Coach Mike Neily, whose team leads the Bay League by one game with a 10-3 mark.

Anetema pitched the last two innings, blanking University and striking out three.

St. Bernard 8, St. Monica 0--Tom Fulkerson pitched a shutout and Placido Estevez and Bernard Balthazar each had two RBIs as the Vikings clinched at least a tie for their third consecutive Camino Real League title with a win at Marine Park in Santa Monica.

It was the 27th straight league win dating back to 1986 for St. Bernard, which is 11-0 in league and 17-3 overall this season. It is the fourth-best league winning streak in Southern Section history.

Fulkerson, a senior right-hander, gave up five hits and struck out eight to improve to 5-1. He walked none, marking the sixth consecutive game that a St. Bernard has not issued a base on balls.

Offensively, Estevez hit a two-run homer in the second and Balthazar and Eric Douglas each went 2 for 3. Balthazar stole home in the fifth, one of the Vikings’ eight steals.

St. Anthony 4, Mary Star 2--George Pisano drove in two runs and pitched a five-hitter, but it wasn’t enough as the Stars dropped a Camino Real League game at Fromhold Field in San Pedro. Pisano staked Mary Star to 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single, but St. Anthony scored three runs in the third to take the lead for good. Mary Star (12-10 overall) fell to 6-6 in league play and has only an outside shot of making the CIF 2-A playoffs.
