A Bible student from Northern California was electrocuted while trying to aid three auto accident victims, and a paramedic trying to revive the student was also electrocuted when he brushed against the same downed power line, Texas Department of Public Safety officials said. Daniel Buchanan, 26, of Davis, a student at the fundamentalist Last Days Ministries encampment near Tyler, Tex., and Tyler paramedic James Ed Thomas, 32, died at Tyler area hospitals, officials said. Investigators said both men were electrocuted by power lines knocked down when a truck driven by Michael Ripley, 16, of Mineola went out of control on a road in northwest Smith County, crashed through a fence and hit the utility pole, knocking down the power lines.
