World Boxing Assn. junior lightweight champion Brian Mitchell of South Africa scored a unanimous 10-round decision over Danilo Cabrera of the Dominican Republic in a non-title bout at Johannesburg, South Africa.
From the third round, Cabrera persistently clung to the champion, but weathered continuous punching from an angry Mitchell, who at one point screamed at his opponent to fight and quit running and holding.
Mitchell rocked Cabrera’s head a few times and the Dominican also landed a few jabs to the champion’s head, but Mitchell never was in trouble at any stage.
