Hawaii remains a high-priority destination for many mature travelers. It’s also the top choice of Americans for summer vacations, according to an American Express survey.

Among the tour operators who package tours to Hawaii are Laguna Hills-based Trieloff Tours, which is very active in planning travel for mature travelers. Its destinations include Alaska, Canada, Mexico and the South Pacific, plus a wide choice of cruises. All of Trieloff’s tours can be arranged through travel agents.

Trieloff’s “Hawaii 1988” brochure lists escorted sightseeing and golf vacations to Hawaii, with visits to 2 to 4 islands from 8 to 15 days. There is still a wide selection of departure dates from which to choose for the rest of this year.

All tours include features such as round-trip air transportation from the mainland via Delta Airlines, a full-time escort in the Islands and inter-island flights. Also flower leis on arrival and departure, a mai tai party on arrival, baggage handling, first-class hotels, airport transfers, Pearl Harbor and Oahu tours and a deluxe travel bag. Additional tours to major attractions on neighbor islands are included, depending on islands visited.

Golfers’ Special

One favorite is Trieloff’s golf tour, a 10-day trip to three islands--Oahu, Kauai and the Big Island of Hawaii. It includes all of the above-mentioned bonus features plus five rounds of golf on the three islands. The plan covers greens fees, electric carts, tournament prizes and transportation to and from hotels to the golf courses. Special tours are provided for non-golfing companions.

The all-inclusive price for the Golf in Hawaii package is $1,399 per person, double occupancy, or $1,049 if the second person is a non-golfer. The package includes round-trip air transportation from California.

The “Hawaii 1988” brochure describes four tours of the Islands from two islands in eight days to five islands in 15 days, plus the Golf in Hawaii tour. All tours are described in detail, as are the five featured golf courses.

Escorted Tours

Other Trieloff tours available during 1988 include:

--New Zealand, Australia and Fiji: 22 days with one departure date in October and three in November.

--Escorted 11-day tours to Alaska on the Daphne, a ship of Italian registry, with departures from Vancouver during the summer months and air fare from Southern California included. Prices determined by cabin location aboard the Daphne beginning at $1,599 per person.
