Someone throwing packs of flaming matches out of a Holiday Inn hotel window in downtown Fresno early today started a fire that caused $43,000 damage, Fresno firefighters reported.

“The investigation is on-going at this time and it is definitely a felony crime,” said Fire Department Capt. Mike Collins. The matches set a plastic skylight on a canopy over the hotel’s eastern entrance ablaze.
