Local News in Brief : Laguna Hills : Man, 87, Killed When Neighbor Backs Car Out
An 80-year-old woman accidentally backed over and killed her 87-year-old neighbor Wednesday in the Leisure World retirement community in Laguna Hills, a California Highway Patrol official said.
Orange County paramedics said Samuel Decker died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday after he was trapped under Marie Frachtman’s 1986 Lincoln Town Car, according to CHP Officer Rick Pena.
Frachtman was backing out of her carport on Paseo del Lago when the left rear bumper struck Decker and knocked him to the ground, Pena said. Knowing that she had backed over something, but not realizing it was a person, she pulled forward and dragged Decker into the car’s wheel well, he said.
