Someone throwing packs of flaming matches out of a Holiday Inn window in downtown Fresno started a fire that caused $43,000 damage, authorities reported. “The investigation is ongoing at this time and it is definitely a felony crime,” said Fresno Fire Department Capt. Mike Collins. The matches set ablaze a plastic skylight on a canopy over the hotel’s eastern entrance, and flames then licked upward to melt and crack a window in a second floor room, Collins said.
