Five Surfers From County Advance to Today’s Round at Salt Creek Beach
Sixteen surfers, including five from Orange County, advanced to the third day of the Body Glove Surf Bout Friday at Salt Creek Beach Park in Laguna Niguel.
Orange County surfers advancing were: Chris Mauro of Laguna Beach, Steve Pugh of Huntington Beach, Kirk Tice of Huntington Beach, Bub Llamas of Huntington Beach and Leslie Archbold of San Clemente. Also advancing were Rick Lasch, Kelly Slater, Ted Robinson, Chris Billy, Scott Blake, K.J. Butterfield, Evan Caples, Doug Silva, Sean Slater, Ricky Shaffer and Walter Cerny.
Those 16 will compete with 32 seeded surfers in today’s competition, which begins at 9:20 a.m. The final will be held on Sunday.
