For the record: We’re sure Gene Wojciechowski’s motives were honorable in his May 29 column on the selection by the Rams of Jeff Beathard as the 333rd and last pick in the National Football League draft. However, he inadvertently offended some very proper people who never ridiculed anyone. The City of Newport Beach, Newport Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce, Balboa Bay Club, UCI Sports Associates, NFL and hundreds of local business people who make Irrelevant Week successful, do roast and toast the honoree of the week, but never ridicule. Here’s to accurate reporting!
