Rick Dodge, assistant city manager in St. Petersburg, Fla., said the city has reached an agreement with owners of the Chicago White Sox on all major points of a lease for the American League club to play in the Florida Suncoast Dome.

Dodge said the agreement includes a pledge that the move will be made only if Illinois lawmakers fail to approve legislation to keep the White Sox in Chicago.

However, White Sox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said the team has not reached a final agreement with St. Petersburg and will not to sign a pact in Florida until Illinois lawmakers act on a lease for a proposed $150 million Illinois state-funded stadium.
