Bonet Will Drop Out of ‘World,’ Into ‘Cosby’

Lisa Bonet, who left “The Cosby Show” to star in “A Different World” last season, will return to “The Cosby Show” next season as a college dropout, NBC said. “A Different World” will continue without her.

Bonet’s character, Denise Huxtable, was seen as a college student in “A Different World,” which was the second highest-rated series on TV last season behind “The Cosby Show,” which precedes it in the Thursday night schedule.

Bonet last year married singer Romeo Blue and is pregnant, but the pregnancy will not be worked into the plot, NBC Entertainment President Brandon Tartikoff said. He held out the possibility of her returning to “A Different World” once she has her baby.
