Former Player at UCLA Writes Book on Batting
Bob Swenson of San Juan Capistrano has written and published a 293-page book on hitting designed to help baseball players of all ages.
Swenson, who played baseball at UCLA and also on the semipro level, said he worked on the book, called “Modern Mechanics of Hitting,” for three years. The book analyzes the batting strokes of many of the game’s best hitters, past and present.
“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” said Swenson, who is now a financial consultant with Shearson Lehman Hutton. “It’s the sort of thing that’s been lacking, with the exception of Ted Williams’ book. When I got a computer, I was able to put it together.”
The book is on sale at selective sporting good stores or can be attained by mail.
