Turner to Try Out With Seattle; Morton to Attend Pacers’ Camp
Henry Turner and Richard Morton, members of the Cal State Fullerton basketball team the past four years, have accepted invitations to National Basketball Assn. free-agent camps, according to Jim Spellman, their agent.
Turner will try out with the Seattle SuperSonics and Morton with the Indiana Pacers.
Turner, a 6-foot 7-inch forward from Oakland, will report to the SuperSonics’ camp July 19. Last season, Turner led the Titans in rebounds with 7.3 per game and averaged 17.3 points, second-best on the team behind Morton.
“They say they are looking for a guy with athletic ability to get out and fill the wing,” Turner said. “I think I have a good chance. They’re looking for somebody who can run and make things happen.”
Morton, a 6-4 guard from San Francisco, will attend the Pacers’ camp July 16. Morton averaged 22 points and 3.7 rebounds last season for Fullerton.
Wayne Engelstad, a 6-8 forward from UC Irvine, also is expected to be invited to an NBA camp, but he has yet to make a decision on which team.
