Blaine McCallister, coming off a record-tying performance the previous day, shot a 2-under-par 68 Sunday to win the $600,000 Hardee’s tournament at Coal Valley, Ill., by three strokes with the lowest 72-hole score on tour this year. It was McCallister’s first victory in six years on the PGA Tour.

The 29-year-old McCallister--who shot a 62 on Friday and followed with a third-round 63 on Saturday to match the tour mark for consecutive rounds set by Ron Streck in the 1978 Texas Open--finished at 19-under-par 261.

McCallister had a seven-stroke lead with four holes to play Sunday, and despite a pair of bogeys, held off Dan Forsman to win the first-place prize of $108,000.

The previous 72-hole low on tour this year was 262, set by Chip Beck at New Orleans in March. McCallister’s total also broke the tournament record of 265, set last year by Kenny Knox.

Colleen Walker turned in a strong back nine to win the Boston Five Classic at Danvers, Mass., by eight strokes, tying the biggest victory margin of the year on the LPGA tour.

Walker, who led after each of the four rounds of the $300,000 tournament, picked up $45,000 for her first victory of the year and second in her seven years on tour. Jan Stephenson threatened on each of the last two days but couldn’t sustain rallies.

Walker shot a 69 Sunday to finish at 14-under-par 274 in the tournament that precedes the U.S. Women’s Open.

Miller Barber shot a 2-under-par 70 at Jeremy Ranch, Utah, to win his second consecutive Senior PGA Showdown title and his third in four years.
