Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and his manager,...
Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and his manager, Bill Cayton, moved closer to solving their differences by reaching an interim agreement on dividing the purse from the Michael Spinks fight.
Tyson received a check for $10 million; Cayton was paid $5 million and trainer Kevin Rooney $1.5 million.
An additional $3 million remains from Tyson’s earnings in that fight, bringing the total purse to about $19.5 million.
The parties will meet next week before Justice David H. Edwards Jr. in New York State Supreme Court to either announce a final settlement or renew talks.
