Beman Is to Blame for U.S. Golf Woes
American tour golf is getting softer, and its once-dominant world position is crumbling.
Despite all the excuses given by experts, there is a single, simple reason America no longer can boast the greatest players in the world--PGA Commissioner Deane Beman.
Beman has rejected the split-tour idea that would afford a chance to hundreds of fine players who are languishing on the sidelines. Beman has also initiated the all-exempt tour, which has taken the guts and heart out of every tournament except the U.S. Open.
I think the solution to America’s golfing woes is simple: Make Beman commissioner of the European tour.
