Guerrero Goes to Albuquerque Today, May Return to Dodger Lineup Tuesday

Dodger slugger Pedro Guerrero, out 48 days with chronic soreness in his neck, felt fit enough Friday night to agree to travel to Albuquerque, N.M., today--a day earlier than scheduled--for rehabilitation under game conditions with the club’s triple-A affiliate.

Manager Tom Lasorda said he hopes to have Guerrero in the Dodger lineup for Tuesday’s doubleheader in San Francisco.

“That’s a possibility, although it depends on how Pete feels,” Lasorda said. “He can play Saturday night, Sunday and Monday down there (in Albuquerque) and maybe get back for Tuesday’s doubleheader.

“We’ve got a lot of important games in San Francisco, and we need Pete. I think everybody knows that.”

Guerrero, scheduled to leave for Albuquerque this morning, had been taking batting practice for the past week and fielding ground balls at both first base and third base.
