Wieczorek’s single in the seventh drove in the Tillers’ final two runs.

Woodbridge has a bye in today’s second round and will play Saturday against the winner of tonight’s Irvine-Tustin game.

University scored in the second when Dave Dieter doubled, went to third on Al Marlinga’s fly ball and scored on Bill Thompson’s infield out.

The Warriors took advantage of four walks by University’s Mark See to score five runs in the second. Two walks and a single loaded the bases for John Martin, who walked. Sean Spelber then singled home two runs.

After Raz Hazan walked to load the bases again, University Coach Steve Ruiz replaced See with Jason Williams. Martin, who went to third on Spelber’s single, was picked off by Dieter, University’s catcher, after Tim Kingsbury missed a squeeze bunt. Kingsbury then doubled home Spelber and Hazan.

The Warriors got three more runs in the fourth. Reliever Mark Miller walked Martin to lead off the inning. One out later, Hazan singled. Miller balked, putting runners on second and third, and then walked Kingsbury to load the bases. Martin and Hazan scored on singles by Marc Howard and Smith. Kingsbury then scored on Ramos’ ground out.

University scored in the fifth on an RBI single by Brian Vial.

University will play Newport Harbor in the second round. The loser will be eliminated.
