University of Kentucky sophomore Eric Manuel’s final college entrance exam is being reviewed by the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. because of a sudden improvement in his score and because he was accompanied by the son of Wildcat Coach Eddie Sutton when he took the test, according to several reports.

The Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader reported that academic counselor Terry Guion, who helped administer the test, was interviewed by NCAA investigators, who inquired about the presence of Sean Sutton, Eddie Sutton’s son.

United Press International reported that NCAA investigators were looking into Manuel’s final entrance exam because a sharp improvement in his score enabled him to qualify for admission to Kentucky under Proposition 48 guidelines for incoming freshmen.

The NCAA advised the university earlier this week that it was investigating possible Wildcat recruiting violations.
