The Los Angeles Board of Public Works Friday reelected Edward Avila to a second term as board president.

Avila, 45, was an executive with a real estate development firm before being appointed to the board by Mayor Tom Bradley in 1984. Unlike members of other city boards, the five public works commissioners are full-time city employees and receive annual salaries of 62,566. The board awards contracts and monitors capital projects for all city departments.
