Furia Rallies to Win Feature
Furia rallied to beat Cash Yawl in the featured ninth race at Los Alamitos Race Course Thursday night. With jockey Kip Didericksen, Furia unleashed a late surge to capture a tight three-horse photo. Raging Charger was another nose back in third in the field of eight 3-year-old allowance horses.
A two-time stakes winner last year earning $57,703, Furia picked up his first victory in three 1988 starts. Furia paid $6.60, $4 and $2.80. Cash Yawl returned $4.60 and $3, while Raging Charger paid $3.20. Furia covered the 350 yards in 17.66.
Perennial training champion Blane Schvaneveldt won four of the first eight races Thursday. His horses have won six races during the first three programs of the 20-night late summer season.
